Outreach Programmes

The Outreach Programme implements interventions aimed at building or improving friendly  communities and environments for deaf children. It targets 4 key groups: Deaf young people;  Parents/Families of deaf young people; wider community; refugees and hosting communitiesÂ

Deaf Young People

  • Identification of Peer Leaders and provision of trainingÂ
  • Rights Awareness
  • Group formation and meeting pointsÂ
  • Supporting Income Generating ActivitiesÂ
  • Participation of deaf young people in cultural events and Flag Days
  • Formation and running of deaf youth clubsÂ
  • Advocacy and networking activitiesÂ

Parents/Families of Deaf Young People

  • Formation of Parents Support Groups (PSGs)
  • Family awareness and communication training (FACT)Â
  • Family Communication Boards
  • Capacity Building and TrainingÂ

Wider Community

  • Consulting and orientation with Community Leaders

  • Development and dissemination of Sign language packages
