Outreach Programmes

The Outreach Programme implements interventions aimed at building or improving friendly  communities and environments for deaf children. It targets 4 key groups: Deaf young people;  Parents/Families of deaf young people; wider community; refugees and hosting communities

Deaf Young People

  • Identification of Peer Leaders and provision of training
  • Rights Awareness
  • Group formation and meeting points
  • Supporting Income Generating Activities
  • Participation of deaf young people in cultural events and Flag Days
  • Formation and running of deaf youth clubs
  • Advocacy and networking activities

Parents/Families of Deaf Young People

  • Formation of Parents Support Groups (PSGs)
  • Family awareness and communication training (FACT)
  • Family Communication Boards
  • Capacity Building and Training
  • Improving Incomes and Livelihoods

Wider Community

  • Consulting and orientation with Community Leaders

  • Networking and Advocacy engagements

  • Identification and follow up on issues of deafness within Refugee areas

  • Deaf Awareness and communication training

  • Silent theatre and edutainment

  • Development and dissemination of Sign language packages

  • Needs Assessment, referral and following up abused children

Wider Community
